These are Welsh Mountains - some might say they are 'tiddlers', but still impressive to me - this is a panoramic shot taken on a quick trip (8hr drive, round-trip) to Bangor in North Wales so that Miles and I could attend the University Open Day - the day was useful, but I would have much rather have been going up these - that said, shortly after this the rain came in...though didn't last for long.

The view here, from beside the A5 from Betws-y-Coed to Bangor, is of Llyn Ogwen (the lake) and Pen yr Ole Wen - all looks majestic with the clouds, the mist, and some sunshine breaking through.

At 978m (3031ft), is only a little lower than Snowdon itself (1085m, 3363ft) - while this is the highest mountain in Wales, it is quite small compared to the Rockies in USA and Canada - I remember the mountains in the Rockies near Denver, CO at Guenella Pass - the pass is high already, but you are looking up at Mt Bierstadt, some 14,065ft - didn't have the time or the energy or the equipment (there a was a lot of snow around) to climb the peak - one day I must go back!

Anyway, I have yet to do Scarfell Pike (highest peak in England), but have done Ben Nevis (highest peak in Scotland) - I have been halfway up Snowdon (though probably carried most of the way - it was a long time ago, probably early 1970) - I need to do it under my own power (no intention of using the train!) - Sparky would enjoy the walk too!
