Met up with my friend Ola last night on the way home and stopped off for a coffee at Bar Italia (22 Firth Street) in Soho before walking on, cameras in hand, down to the Mall, Green Park and Hyde Park back to Paddington Station
I took several pictures while we drank our coffee – and this is one of them – just some customers at the bar.
I have a feeling that this place has not changed much in years, so lends itself to being converted to black and white – only the clothing of the customers really gives away the year!
A quirky cafe…with excellent coffee – perfect!
Update:
I bought a copy of London’s Hidden Walks Volume 1 yesterday – just noticed that they have a walk through Soho and mention Bar Italia – apparently, one of the upstairs rooms was rented by John Logie Baird (inventor of the television) in 1925 and this was the location of the first live television broadcast on 2nd October of that year.
Shot handheld, edited in Lightroom 5.6 and Nik Software SilverFX Pro (I used their Ilford 400 preset for the film simulation to give it a ‘gritty’ edge)
