This photograph was taken was taken from the Thames Path at East India Dock Basin – the dock is now a nature reserve, though the lock gates were renovated and are still in place maintaining the water level in the reserve. This picture of the River Thames looking downstream – the Millennium Dome/O2 Arena on the left on the North Greenwich peninsula and the Emirates AirLine (cable cars) can be seen in the middle distance with Charlton and Woolwich Common in the far distance.
This was a 60s exposure using my ND10 filter, so the water is smooth – the buoy in the foreground was moving a little in the current flowing upstream, quite fast as the tide was coming in, so some blurring – there is also some blurring where the AirLine descends on the North Greenwich side from the movement of the cable cars – it is quite subtle, though.
Some post processing to improve the sky (which was fairly bland, to be honest, though turned out better than I had thought) and removing dust spots (I must clear the sensor!) – the conversion to B&W was done in Silver Efex Pro, adding a coffee tint.
